Todd Cooney Racing will welcome Marshalltown, Iowa’s Ryan Gustin as a team driver for the 2024 World of Outlaws Late Model Series campaign and additional high-paying events.
Gustin will pilot the Todd Cooney Racing No.19R Longhorn Chassis by Wells sponsored by Alan’s Seamless Gutters and May Properties with a Jay Dickens racing engine.
Coming off a 37-race 2023 season that saw him capture 3 wins, 13 top-fives, and 23 top-tens with the World of Outlaw Late Models, the 32-year-old Gustin will chase the series for a fourth consecutive year.
“We’ve been fortunate that Todd (Cooney) has stepped up his program for next season,” Gustin said of his new car owner, whom he will begin to drive for next year. “We will change to Longhorn Chassis by Wells Motorsports cars, but I want to thank Mark Richards (owner of Rocket Chassis) for all the help and advice he has given us as we have traveled up and down the road with their team for the past three years.
“With the transition to Longhorn Chassis for next season, we’re gonna have good preparation, more help, so we are going to need to get going and prove to our sponsors and people that this change is going to be well worth it.”
With the welcoming of Gustin, Cooney will also run the World of Outlaws Late Model Series again in 2024.
“We’re really excited, and our families have known each other for a while now and to have Ryan as a team driver for us is something I have looked forward to ever since I spoke to Ryan about this opportunity," said Cooney. I am really excited to get this season over with so we can begin to start building our new cars for next season.”
As the 2023 Rookie of the Year campaign comes to an end at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World Finals on November 1-4, Cooney has recorded 29 races with a top-ten in his first full season with the series. He looks to add to his résumé going into 2024 with standards high for next season.
